Introduction

Wireless Integrated division of BioEnable offer Hardware & software design of Low Power WiFi (LPW) products and solutions for commercial and industrial applications.

For battery based sensors and automation applications, Wi-Fi was not considered as a suitable technology. Most of the WiFi devices today like networking devices are powered directly by the mains AC adapter or devices like laptops, cell phones are based on high capacity rechargeable batteries.

But with advancement in the Chip design facilities, many semiconductor companies have developed low power WiFi chips that can work for several months to years on a small battery. This has given rise to the opportunities for using WiFi for wide range of new applications like Home Automation, Wireless Sensors, Industrial automation etc. These products can work for several years on small battery and still use the existing WiFi infrastructure, making it very simple and effective.

  • Matured network management systems.
  • A huge installed base of over 2 billion Wi-Fi-certified devices;
  • Proven encryption, authentication and end-to-end network security;
  • A vibrant standard and industry alliance of close to 300 members;

This low-power Wi-Fi is suitable for number of residential and commercial building applications

Relative to other technologies such as Zigbee/802.15.4, low power Wi-Fi takes advantage of well-established IP and Wi-Fi protocols:

  • Wi-Fi provides well-proven encryption and end-to-end network security
  • Low power Wi-Fi systems benefit from a large installed base of existing WiFi infrastructure
  • WiFi Sensors are able to get unique IP addresses either via static assignment or through DHCP queries
  • Low power Wi-Fi also provides high bandwidth for wireless applications
