Smart Parking

Due to the proliferation in the number of vehicles on the road, traffic problems are bound to exist. This is due to the fact that the current transportation infrastructure and car park facility developed are unable to cope with the influx of vehicles on the road. To alleviate the aforementioned problems BioEnable proposes to implement Smart Parking System. With the implementation of Smart Parking System patrons can easily locate and secure a vacant parking space at any car park deemed convenient to them. Vehicle ingress and egress are also made more convenient with the implementation of hassle free payment mechanism

The Smart Parking System should provide the following facilities

It should enable the authority to facilitate generation of parking receipts and tickets based on occupancy of parking lots.

The system should provide real time location based view to citizens about proximity of parking lots and availability of parking lots.

The system should enable the above functions with minimal manual intervention.

Smart parking can be implemented for two types of areas as mentioned below

Open Parking Space: It’s well known that nabbing a parking place on street has been always difficult and has always remain a matter of luck. But now BioEnable proposes to make it easy through intelligent parking system

Every parking space has a battery powered sensor embedded in the asphalt. Each sensor has an optical detector, which notices when the space above the sensor suddenly darkens, and a magnetic field detector, which confirms that the shadow has been produced by a metal rather than a passing cloud or a paused pedestrian.

If information from both the detectors confirm that a car has pulled into space, the device sends out radio frequency signal to the data collector. These transceivers placed on common features in the urban development, such as lamp post and building facades receive signal from roughly as dozen spaces and send on the information to the central database. From there, information about open spots can be send to parking administrators, electronic billboards or driver’s smartphones.

Closed Parking Space: It’s based on sensor network technology which provides advanced feature like remote parking monitoring, automated guidance based on mobile application. Here each sensor is placed in between parking slot of a multi floored parking building. So whenever a car gets parked in a parking slot. The sensor detects it and sends the signals to the micro controller which in turn stores it in the server regarding the current place occupied by the car. This same is the case when the car leaves the parking space.

The mobile application which is installed in the driver’s smartphone gives the clear updates to the driver about the current free and also occupied positions of the parking spaces in their smartphones. So he/she can easily check the current vacant space available and park their car easily in the available vacant space.

Optimized Parking: Users find the best possible spot thus saving time, resource and effort.

Reduced Traffic: Traffic flow increases as fewer cars are required to drive around in search of an open parking space.

Reduced Pollution: Searching for parking burns around one million barrels of oil a day. An optimal parking solution will significantly decrease driving time, thus lowering the amount of daily vehicle emissions and ultimately reducing the global environmental footprint.

Enhanced User Experience: A smart parking solution will integrate the entire user experience into a unified action. Driver’s payment, spot identification, location search and time notifications all seamlessly become part of the destination arrival process.

Increased Safety: Parking lot employees and security guards contain real-time lot data that can help prevent parking violations and suspicious activity. Also, decreased spot-searching traffic on the streets can reduce accidents caused by the distraction of searching for parking.

Real-Time Data and Trend Insight: Over time, a smart parking solution can produce data that uncovers correlations and trends of users and lots. These trends can prove to be invaluable to lot owners as to how to make adjustments and improvements to drivers.

Decreased Management Cost: More automation and less manual activity saves on labor cost and resource exhaustion.
