"Bengaluru-based HyperVerge has made history by becoming the only system to meet all the benchmarks in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate’s (DHS S&T) Remote Identity Validation Technology Demonstration (RIVTD) Track 2 assessment. This achievement is a testament to the company's cutting-edge technology in remote identity verification.
The RIVTD Track 2 assessment is designed to evaluate software systems that verify identities by comparing images on identity documents with selfie photos. It focuses on the ability of these technologies to detect imposters who might use genuine, but lost or stolen, IDs to create new accounts or apply for benefits.
Sixteen firms participated in the testing program, with HyperVerge standing out by achieving an error rate of less than 1 percent. This remarkable achievement follows HyperVerge’s top rankings in the NIST 2023 and 2022 Face Recognition Vendor Tests (FRVT).
In 2022, HyperVerge ranked 7th globally on the NIST FRVT 1 1 leaderboard and 2nd in the Border Images Benchmark of the NIST FRVT 1 1, which is known for its difficulty due to the variety of poses and image quality involved. The company was also ranked 5th globally in the NIST FRVT 1 N Investigation Track, which is used for fraud detection, and 8th in the FRVT 1 N Identification Leaderboard. Additionally, HyperVerge secured the 6th position in the NIST Mugshot benchmark.
In 2023, HyperVerge continued its strong performance, maintaining top rankings in both the FRVT 1 1 and FRVT 1 N categories.
Co-Founder and CTO Vignesh Krishnakumar and CEO Kedar Kulkarni highlighted that the results from the DHS RIVTD assessment reflect the company’s technological capabilities in enhancing security and accuracy in identity verification. “We are constantly seeking ways to make identity verification safer, faster, and more affordable for our clients across the world,” Kulkarni said.
