Calsoft Technologies is a global software engineering firm specializing in product engineering, storage solutions, virtualization, cloud services, and IP accelerators. Its Pune branch supports R&D and service teams who require accurate, flexible time-tracking and leave management.
The legacy biometric device captured raw punch-in/punch-out data but lacked advanced daily, weekly, or monthly reports, and offered no “missing swipe” or “half-day” summaries.
No support for nonstandard shifts (e.g., 10 pm–3 am), work-from-home days, compensatory offs, or public-holiday/weekly-off configurations.
HR manually combed attendance logs to identify missing swipes and absences; there was no automated email/SMS notification or easy interface for ad-hoc edits (WFH, comp-off, manual adjustments).
Leave balances weren’t tied to attendance anomalies (e.g., < 3 hrs counted as absent, > 3 < 6 hrs as half-day), forcing extra administrative work to reconcile time data with leave records.

Leave & Exception Handling Integrated leave balance tracking with attendance rules—automatically deducting from leave for short-hours or no-swipe absences; adds “Work From Home” and “Comp Off” options in the leave application workflow.
Custom Reporting Suite Out-of-the-box daily, weekly, monthly, absent, missing-swipe, and individual employee reports—highlighting WO/PH days, gross hours, shift counts, leave taken, WFH, and comp-offs.
Self-Service Portal Employees can log in to view their own records, apply for leaves/exceptions, and download timesheets.Â
Although initially developed on Windows, the solution was hardened for Red Hat Enterprise Linux to meet Calsoft’s infrastructure standards.
