Industry: Automotive Manufacturing | Foundry & Casting | Multi-Plant Operations
Endurance Group, a leading global manufacturer of aluminum casting, suspension, transmission, and braking systems, operates 19 production facilities across India and Europe. With a workforce spanning thousands of contract laborers across plants, workforce control, accountability, and operational compliance had become a growing challenge—especially in labor-intensive manufacturing units.
To address these concerns, BioEnable Technologies designed and implemented a fully integrated Online Biometric Contractor Labor Management System (CLMS) that would help manage, restrict, and track contractors and laborers across departments in real-time, while ensuring operational transparency and data accuracy.
Prior to system implementation, Endurance’s Chakan plant faced the following issues:
No restriction on the number or validity of laborers entering the plant
Blacklisted or terminated workers could re-enter due to manual controls
No defined quotas for contractor-based labor allocation
No biometric attendance tracking or working hour records
Difficulty in interdepartmental labor allocation and monitoring
Absence of structured reports on daily attendance, work hours, and labor activity
BioEnable proposed and developed a web-based biometric solution, centered on fingerprint authentication and real-time access control integrated with labor quota management. This centralized contractor workforce system included modules for:
Biometric Registration: Image and fingerprint capture at time of onboarding
Quota Definition and Approval: Role-based workflow for labor allocation per department, skill, and plant
Blacklisting & Validation Rules: Automatic blocking of blacklisted/invalid workers at gate-level
Intra-Departmental Labor Transfers: Authorized workflow for movement of laborers between departments
Approval Matrices: Configurable multi-level approval system based on department or hierarchy
Daily Attendance and Shift Logs: IN/OUT time punches, auto-wage calculation, OT tracking
Reporting Suite: Real-time reporting by day, department, or worker including wage summary
Fingerprint + facial photo capture during onboarding
Registration linked with department, plant, contractor name, and validity period
Web-based webcam interface for image capture
Plant/dept-level quota setting for number of laborers by skill set
Multi-step approval matrix based on department heads and HR
Inactive status until final approval is granted
Plant HR can mark contractors/laborers as blacklisted
Corporate HR has override privileges
Automatic restriction at gate via biometric match
Expired workers marked “Invalid” post-termination date
Department heads approve attendance per shift
Inter-departmental labor requests routed through HR
Shift-based labor allocation with IN/OUT punch logic
OT calculation based on actual presence against shift times
Daily/Monthly: Attendance, Absentees, Wages (With/Without OT)
Plant-wise and department-wise reports
Auto-generated Timecard summaries
Comprehensive workforce analytics for compliance and planning
Client Device: Web browser with webcam for image capture
Biometric Attendance Device: Fingerprint reader
Backend Engine: Secure Linux-based server with PostgreSQL
Web Application: Role-based login, approval workflows, quota builder
APIs: For HRMS integration, future payroll linking
Access Control: Gate-side terminals linked to labor validity database
The biometric-based CLMS is now successfully deployed and operational at Endurance's Chakan plant, delivering:
Automated labor tracking and accurate attendance recording
Effective control over labor movement and allocation
Complete transparency in shift hours and wage calculations
Faster audit reporting with digitized records
Compliance with contractor labor laws and safety policies
BioEnable provided a complete turnkey solution, including system design, software development, hardware deployment, and staff training. The client continues to use the system to manage real-time labor operations, with potential for expansion across other units.
